‘A Fistful Of Diamonds’ World Premiere – Official Press Release

Modern-day Irish Western feature film A Fistful Of Diamonds has been officially selected for this year’s Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire. The screening will take place on Thursday the 13th of September at 11:30am, and marks the world premiere of the film, which was completed last year.

The film tells the story of wayward stranger Vaughn, who arrives in town at the same time as Dove, a betrayed criminal hell-bent on revenge and reclaiming his property: a fistful of stolen diamonds. When the two men’s paths converge on Scarlet – the bereaved daughter of jewel thief Red – all three are catapulted into a maelstrom of danger, retribution, razor blades and gun-smoke.

Made for less than €300, A Fistful Of Diamonds represents a new wave of independent filmmaking, unrestricted by large crews, expensive equipment and bloated budgets. Paying homage to the classic Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone, the film relocates the Wild West to Co. Wicklow, where the entire film was shot on location.

“I’m delighted that the film will be screened as part of this festival,” says writer/director David Keeling, “It’s fantastic to be able to show this film to the public. Everybody loves a Western, and I think people will really enjoy seeing Ireland on screen in a way that’s never really been done before.”
